As more and more development grows on Texas City’s west side, the demand for police calls has also increased.
For many years, the Texas City Police Department has worked to establish a west side presence.
Those efforts have been inconsistent and never fully utilized.
Police Chief Joe Stanton hopes that will change now that Texas City Police have a West side Station at Mainland City Centre (the former Mall of the Mainland).
While for now it’s not staffed 24/7, Stanton said he hopes to in the near future have officers stationed at the location.
For now it will serve as a work spot and meeting place. Eventually it will be a spot for those who live west of state Highway 3 to go to file reports or handle other police business.
